Santiago de Cuba, Cuba – July 2025

In July 2025, a mission team coordinated by Gospel Travel Mission traveled to Santiago de Cuba to serve the local community through spiritual outreach, health services, and children’s ministry. The trip combined humanitarian service, evangelistic engagement, and cultural connection with the local church.

The team arrived in Santiago on July 16, where volunteers were welcomed and assigned to local host homes. The first days were dedicated to orientation and cultural connection, allowing the team to learn about the local context and build relationships with members of the community.

A central partner in the mission was the Veguita de Galo Seventh-day Adventist Church, which hosted the majority of the outreach activities. The mission officially began with a Sabbath worship service where the visiting team and local congregation united in fellowship and spiritual preparation for the week of service ahead.

Community Impact Initiatives

Throughout the week, the mission team carried out several initiatives designed to meet both spiritual and physical needs in the community.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Each morning from July 21–25, volunteers led a Vacation Bible School program for children. Activities included Bible stories, games, music, crafts, and character-building lessons. The program created a joyful and safe space where children could learn about faith, hope, and compassion.

Community Health Outreach

In the afternoons, the team provided dental services, health education, and preventive health workshops. These activities helped address practical health needs while teaching families about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.

Mega Health Fair

One of the highlights of the mission was the Mega Health Fair, where residents from the surrounding area received basic health services and educational resources. The event was organized in collaboration with local church volunteers and community leaders.

Cultural and Spiritual Exchange

Beyond the organized outreach activities, the mission fostered deep relationships between the visiting team and the Cuban community. Shared worship services, community meals, and informal fellowship created meaningful connections that strengthened the local church and encouraged mutual support.

Closing Celebration

The mission concluded on July 26 with a closing program celebrating the children who participated in the Vacation Bible School and expressing gratitude to the volunteers, church members, and community partners who made the outreach possible.

Stewardship of Donor Support

Donor contributions made this mission possible by supporting:

  • Transportation and logistics for the mission team
  • Supplies for the Vacation Bible School program
  • Dental and health outreach materials
  • Educational resources for community workshops
  • Coordination and operational support for the outreach events

Because of this support, dozens of families were served, children experienced a week of spiritual formation and joy, and the local church was strengthened in its mission to serve its community.

Looking Ahead

The Santiago mission demonstrated the power of collaborative service between international volunteers and local congregations. Gospel Travel Mission remains committed to supporting similar initiatives that combine faith, compassion, and practical service to transform communities.

Personal Testimony – Lydenice Sánchez

Lydenice Sánchez shares how the Cuba 2025 mission began as a desire God placed in her heart years earlier, and how that calling continued to grow until it became a reality through Gospel Travel Mission. Even though many people said it was not the right time to go because of the political and global situation, she witnessed how God confirmed every step, provided peace, and formed a committed team ready to serve. During the mission, she saw God’s hand in every detail: visas were approved just days before departure, supplies and medical materials arrived without problems, and the local community responded with love and generosity. More than 500 children participated in Vacation Bible School, around 100 people received medical and dental care, and many families in need were blessed through practical acts of service. For Lydenice, this mission became a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness, provision, and transforming love. Read the full testimony here.

Yet once he arrived and began serving in the games and sports area, he quickly discovered that even the simplest moments could carry deep meaning. What impacted him most was the joy of the children — their smiles, their happiness, and even the daily routine of greeting him with an excited high-five. Through those small but unforgettable moments, Ciba learned that every sacrifice is worthwhile when it is done in love and service. His testimony reflects the joy of giving, the beauty of simple connections, and the lasting value of serving others through Christ. Read the full testimony here.

During Vacation Bible School, she served in the games area and discovered that sharing God’s love does not always require many words — sometimes a simple conversation, a moment of play, and a willing heart can reflect Christ in a powerful way. Before the trip, many people spoke negatively about Cuba, but she never allowed fear to take control because she trusted that God was leading the experience. Her testimony reflects peace, gratitude, and the joy of seeing God fulfill a personal dream while teaching her that faithful service, even in the simplest ways, can leave a lasting spiritual impact.
